Dhaka Metro Rail
The capital city of Bangladesh, in Dhaka, under construction
the metro rail project is the biggest project that officially known as
mass rapid transit which briefly MRT.
This project was planned in 2013 so that address the problem
and remove traffic jams for the most crowded city. At the first stage selected
for the construction Uttara to Motijeel almost 20.1 kilometers MRT-6 line.
All About And Benefits of Dhaka Metro Rail projects-
- The cost of the Dhaka Metrorail project is Tk. 22,000 crore
- Officially known as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6, Metrorail service is expected to be half-open by 20.10 km by the end of 2021
- If once completed, the service will carry 60,000 passengers/hour
- Having 16 stops of Bangladesh Bank will be constructed from 20 km metro rail route Uttara
- The project will save 200 billion / year, equivalent to 1.5% of gross domestic product (GDP) and 1 %% of total tax revenue.
- This will significantly reduce the travel time from one end to the other in at least two hours to 36 minutes.
- Through JICA, The government of Japan will provide Rs. 16,600 crore of the total project cost of
Tk.22,000 crore ($ 2.2 billion) at 0.01% interest rate. The rest will have
to be managed by the government
- Nippon Koei Ltd. of Japan with partners Nippon Koei India Ltd., Delhi Metrorail Corporation Ltd., Mott MacDonald Ltd. India, Mott McDonald Ltd., and Development Design Consultants Ltd.
- The consortium has designed, supervised, and implemented the Dhaka Metro as an implementing agency of the Transport Co-ordination Authority (DTCA) to assist in managing the Dhaka Rapid Transit Development Project.
- Metrorail will have 1 station on Uttara, Mirpur, Rokeya Sarani, Khamarbari, Farmgate, Sonargaon Hotel, Shahbag, Doel Chattar, and Topkhana Road.
- The 12 km track of the first section extends from North Uttara to Agargaon.
- According to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), 14 trains will operate every three minutes and carry 60,000 passengers per hour on both sides.
- The estimated journey time is 35 minutes at a distance of 20 km from the northern end to Motijheel. The trains will have six cars each, all air-conditioned.
- The second phase, which will run from Agargaon to Motijheel, will end in December 2020. The service will start with six trains and by the end of the second phase, 24 trains will be sent out. The trains will be from Mitsubishi.
- The metro rail will have a sound barrier and vibration-free tracks and it will be eco-friendly. The cars were made of stainless steel and aluminum alloy.
- The project is being implemented by the government-owned Mass Transit Company Limited and is being overseen by the Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority.
In the MRT-6 line are 16 route stations. Those are-
- Uttara North
- Uttara Center
- Uttara South
- Pallabi
- Mirpur-11
- Mirpur-10
- Kazipara
- Shawrapara
- Agargaon
- Vijay Sarani
- Farmgate
- Karwan Bazar
- Shahbag
- Dhaka University
- Socibaloy
- Motijheel.
Each metro rail station will have three floors. You have to
climb the stairs first to the second floor. There will be ticket counters and
other facilities. And the platform of the train will be on the third floor.
It will take less than 40 minutes for the train to cover
about 20 kilometers from Uttara to Motijheel. Passengers will be able to pay
the train fare with 'prepaid card' on Metrorail. There will also be an
opportunity to travel by buying tickets.
As soon as this metro rail project is fully visible within
2021 and also the bridge minister said work on MRT line-1 and 5 will start
soon. There will be 13 and a half kilometers of the subway. DPP has already
been approved and possible MRT-1 and MRT-5 route are-
